Digital News Subscription Tax Credit

What Is The Digital News Subscription Tax Credit?

It is a non-refundable credit that the Canadian Government introduced in 2020. It allows taxpayers to deduct the cost of their subscription to qualified Canadian Digital News Media from 2020-to 2024.

How Do I Know If My Subscription Qualifies?

Suppose you have a digital news subscription. At the end of the calendar year, you will receive a notification from your media host about the amount you may claim for this credit.

How Much I May Claim For This Credit?

Up to $500 of the total cost of your subscription * 15% = up to $75 per taxpayer can be claimed for the credit.
